Who Are Seventh-day Adventists?

The MPA Seventh-day Adventist Church is affiliated with Mount Pisgah Academy. Its purpose is to provide a church home for MPA students, people living in the local community, and people who live within the local retirement institutions. It is part of a world-wide organization with more than 18 million members in countries around the world.  We would be happy to have you join us in worship or at one of the church events listed on our calendar.

What Seventh-day Adventists Believe
As a Christian church, Seventh-day Adventists are a faith community rooted in the beliefs communicated most clearly by the life and words of Jesus, as described in the Bible.  More >>

Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These beliefs, as set forth here, constitute the church's understanding and expression of the teaching of Scripture. For a short video description of each Adventist belief, see Did You Know?      More >>

The accounts of heaven's interaction with humanity throughout the Bible lead us to view God as loving and compassionate. We see Him setting a universe-wide standard of gracious behavior in the life of Jesus. God's congenial way of treating other beings was acted out among us and defines Love.

Although the Bible portrays God as having limitless power to do anything desired, He does not control humanity's freedom of choice. Love cannot force itself on anyone. Love always allows for rejection. The picture emerging from the stories of the Bible shows God inviting us to love Him because of the kind of person He is, not because He is powerful.

"Love is patient and kind. Love knows neither envy nor jealousy. Love is not forward and self-assertive, nor boastful and conceited. Love does not behave unbecomingly, nor seek to aggrandize oneself, nor blaze out in passionate anger, nor brood over wrongs. Love finds no pleasure in injustice done to others, but joyfully sides with the truth. Love knows how to be silent. Love is full of trust, full of hope, full of patient endurance. Love never fails." (1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Weymouth)

Jesus came to Earth to show us how to love, to show us what God is like. As we admire Jesus, we become like Jesus. The MPA Seventh-day Adventist Church has chosen as our guiding phrase, "Following Jesus to New Heights." Join us as we seek to lovingly follow Jesus to new heights, from Mount Pisgah to Mount Zion, with new heights along the way of love for God, one another, our community, and a world in need!

“Then I looked, and this is what I saw: the Lamb stood firmly established on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000 who had His name and His Father’s name inscribed on their foreheads…. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes.” (Revelation 14:1, 4)
